FashionAtom Cianfarani was the Creative Director of Gaelyn & Cianfarani, a New York City label known for its elegant, innovative aesthetic and its early leadership in sustainable design. Operated from 2000-2004.
The brand became renowned for its signature rubber-and-latex textiles—materials developed in the East Village studio using a trademarked process that transformed salvaged bicycle inner tubes into wearable, sculptural fabric. This distinctive material became central to the label’s identity, embodying reuse and sustainable fashion long before that ethos entered the mainstream. Gaelyn & Cianfarani also introduced ecological textiles such as soy, hemp, organic fibers, and bamboo to the fashion runway at a time when these materials were virtually absent from the industry. Their work helped establish an early vocabulary for sustainability within contemporary fashion. www.gaelyn.com |

CostumeAtom Cianfarani’s costume practice extends their lifelong commitment to reuse, material experimentation, and embodied storytelling. Working with reclaimed textiles, industrial remnants, and unconventional materials, Cianfarani constructs costumes that operate as both garments and narrative devices—Their costumes often blur the line between fashion and sculpture, becoming vehicles for character transformation.
